2024 Best Book Design in Korea
Nominated to 2025 Best Book Design from all over the World
The Closing Ceremony series is an archive of faded city heritage. This series contains the records from artists' perspectives on a city's heritage in each book.
For the first book, Graphicabulary, the design studio based in Seoul, archived Seoul's monumental hotel into artworks, which disappeared after 40 years of business from 1983 to 2022.
About Hilton Seoul
Hilton Seoul has a modern architectural heritage with great architectural significance. It was the second international chain hotel to open in Korea and greatly influenced the industry. Above all, this hotel contains all the visitors' memories and meanings.
The architecture was designed by Jong Soung Kimm, one of the successors of Mies van der Rohe.
The first edition is a lay-flat paperback with 150 pages. It is offset printed on archival paper with conservation grade, and the cover has bronze-coloured foil stamping.
