Co-Director
Pascale Obolo, born in Yaoundé, lives and works in Paris. Since 2023 she has been co-director of Miss Read. Obolo is a filmmaker-researcher, curator, editor, and director of the African Art Book Fair, which she founded in 2014. She is the chief editor of the art magazine AFRIKADAA, which she co-founded in 2012. After studying at the Conservatoire Libre du Cinéma Français in Paris, her first film, Calypso at Dirty Jim’s, was released in 2005 and won the prize at the Cannes International Pan-African Film Festival and the African Diaspora Film Festival in 2006. Her first feature film, a documentary about Calypso Rose, was released in 2011. Obolo started working with Miss Read in 2020 and was part of the team to develop the workbook Decolonizing Art Book Fairs: Publishing Practices from the South(s) (Miss Read, AFRIKADAA, Mosaiques, 2021).
