Edition Taube – Miss Read

Edition Taube

Edition Taube was founded in 2009 by Jonas Beuchert, Tilman Schlevogt and Jan Steinbach and received the German Publishing Award in 2020 and its Grand Prix in 2022. Edition Taube is an independent publishing house for contemporary art and publishes artists’ books and limited editions in small print runs.
Edition Taube believes in the future and demands and supports new positions on paper. Researching and conveying the subversive power of the naive and intuitive is not only expressed in the production of books and editions, but is as well a motivation for bringing new artistic perspectives into circulation.
Through an active network of artists and like-minded people, an international radius of action has developed since 2009 and enables exhibitions, workshops and collaborations in the world’s metropolises. The cultural exchange and the dialogue with artists and recipients are central.

ANJA DIETMANN, UMSATZÜBERSICHT, EDITION TAUBE, 2024 © ANJA DIETMANN

Umsatzübersicht offers a compelling reflection on the often-overlooked aspects of daily life. Through a meticulous documentation of her own housework over the course of a year, Dietmann sheds light on the invisible and unpaid labor of housekeeping and care work. Each day, she paid herself through a wire transfer, with the bank statements reproduced as facsimiles in the book, making the invisible labor visible in an unusual yet thought-provoking form.

CRASH
Michael Radford, CRASH, EDITION TAUBE, 2024 © Michael Radford

In Michael Radford’s first artists’ book, we see shattered supercar bodies - forming a dialogue between consumer accidents and human desire, questioning these objects and their role in enabling petrol masculinity. The seductive high-gloss compositions draw us in, seen through the lens of automotive sexiness and the capitalist ideological machine, cannoned by the image. The work reflects strategies from his professional background: advertising, publishing, and state-propaganda.

Mistakes Were Made
Agata Madejska, Mistakes Were Made, Edition Taube, 2024 © Agata Madejska

Mistakes Were Made develops Agata Madejska’s ongoing interest into the fissures of institutional power by looking closer at the linguistic structures of contemporary politics. The collection of poems at the core of Mistakes Were Made are deconstructed speeches made by Western leaders between 2016 and 2022 — pronouncements which mark the beginning or the end of a political reign. Transformed into jittering, self-affirming monologues, here, the political content of these public announcements has been removed. Debased of rhetorical action, Madejska’s editing exposes the patterns of persuasion that colour the play of contemporary political practice.
