Pre-fair Program // Open-Source Mixxx Sound Software

Participant: Sumugan Sivanesan (fugitive radio)

Workshop

Intro to DJing using free software Mixxx, allegedly "the coolest open source application ever." We will be developing bare bones styles of laptop DJing using the touchpad and keyboard. No controllers, no jog wheels, no pre-fade cues!

At the end of the evenings' program we will have an open decks/sound clash session, so you can show off your skills live!

Bring a laptop, headphones and music you want to mix (mp3, wav, aiff, ogg) — at least 10 tracks the more the better.

Note: Mixxx is not available for phone or tablet, so you will need a laptop.

Please download and install the version that works for you beforehand (Mac OS, Windows and Linux): https://mixxx.org

If you are working on an older OS not supported by the latest version, you can DL a previous version here: https://mixxx.org/download/#previous

It is also useful to have a batch audio converter to transcode different files to mp3. Some free examples below. Search for others:
