AURUA PAPER

The AURUA PAPER is an independent publisher based at the art and architecture experiential site of AURUA Sugar House in Guilin, Guangxi Province, China. Since its founding, AURUA seeks to engage with the global and cross-cultural art forms to mend the gradually estranged relationship between people and nature. The AURUA PAPER invites readers to participate in discussions on cultural activities that are deeply rooted in Chinese local contexts and responsive to the contemporary social conditions. The first series consists of four core thematic issues —terroir, nature, presence, and aura. Starting from the second series, each issue expands into a more in-depth exploration of evolving themes and ongoing dialogues. Past issues include a “documentary on paper” on the Fire Tower construction at Sugar House and a thinking series of the meaning of countryside architecture in China. The most recent publication is a thematic exploration of rice as a local texture.
