Becoming – Miss Read

Becoming

Becoming Press is an independent publishing-machine that, while originating from the Island of Aphrodite, Cyprus, is currently operating out of Berlin. It is a press that has earned a reputation for publishing para-academic, experimental or "minor" literature, through working with authors who are often anonymous or underground. Each publication attempts to untangle a particular knot, such as A.I and Art, Capitalism and Biology or Psychoanalysis and TV. Besides books, Becoming also maintains an online archive of materials, such as essays and interviews, that we have published online, as well as operating a record label with a built in radio channel. Yet further is our plan to work with our peers and other collectives like Open Secret and OnMyComputer on the emergent concept of "internet cinema", through archives, screenings and a book. We are entirely independent and self-funded, choosing the difficult path of commercial activity to maintain the independence necessary to maintain our editorial line.

Achim Szepanski, In the Delirium of the Simulation: Baudrillard Revisited, Becoming/NON, 2024 © Achim Szepanski

Cover of the book "In the Delirium of the Simulation" by Achim Szepanski. This was our 4th publication (out of 8), but it was one of the last texts ever written by Achim, the founder of iconic projects like Mille Plateaux, Force-inc, and NON. This book about Baudrillard makes a convincing case that perhaps only through Baudrillard can any sense of the most Advanced forms of Global, Speculative and Financial Capitalism.
