Dog-ears

Dog-ears (24x17,9cm; 32 pages) began at a collective reading of Clarice Lispector’s The Passion According to G.H., inspired by a quote about a fold from an outer into an inner world, likened to the fold of a book page. A fold of a book, of language itself, of reality, or of some everyday object, is written into each of the 32 texts in the book. A dog-ear is the fold one makes at the corner of a page: to mark a passage or indicate where a reading paused. Each page of the book carries its own version, snippet, method, or register of a dog-ear, placed at the upper right corner. The pages do not follow a fixed order; each volume presents a different sequence.

Call Mark Video Collective is an editorial project that historiographizes a speculated group proposed to have existed continuously in San Diego since the 1980s. The project of writing them into existence began as a webpage with texts authored by Vinícius Maffei. The book Call Mark Video Collective and Friends (19x11cm; 28 pages) brings together these writings alongside submissions made to the webpage, both by invited and spontaneous contributors. Printed on one-millimeter laminated card pages, the book attempts a “space” that accommodates multiple textual registers, including poetry, testimonies, transcripts, art reviews, emails, and epistolary writing.

In-flight (17,7x24cm) is a collection of ripped book pages. Each page contains a scene set in-flight. The collection is ongoing and, in recent years, has been presented in different forms. In its current iteration, it includes pages from fourteen books in four different languages. The pages are reproduced as facsimiles of the original ripped pages and are overlaid with a thin sheet of paper that highlights the portion of text containing the in-flight scene. All pages and their respective overlays are contained within a larger overlay, which includes a text framing the scope of the collection.
