Burning Desk

Burning Desk is an illustrator based in Rotterdam (NL). From 2018 to 2021 Burning Desk lived/worked in Berlin to focus on making art. Now 5 years later Burning Desk is making works daily about life and humans. Main subjects of interest to make illustrations about are; mental health, equal rights, and climate change. ////////// Burning Desk also does paid projects where the focus is on social/cultural vulnerable subjects, to start an open conversation about these subjects and spread more awareness. For a current project about;'how young adults deal with grief and loss', Burning Desk will ask your input and share your thoughts at Miss Read Berlin!

For 10 months (2022/2023) I worked on this visual manuscript about 'how to be more envoiremental friendly as an illustrator'. During this project I reseached and experimented with different self-made materials to draw with. The result is a 60 page manuscript. With this publication I hope to inspire other illustrators to explore the possabilaties to be more eco friendly. This publication will be for sale at Miss Read '23, I offer a limited amount of printed versions and besides of that a print on demand version or digital version. All the pages are made on old leftover paper and boxes. This project has been sponsored by Stimuleringsfonds.

Some of my mini zines, the smallest are now a bit bigger than a 2 euro coin but I’m working on even smaller versions to see how small I can go!

I once was a photographer (work in progress)

Im working on a zine where I document the photos I made during my time as a photographer. I’m combining my photos with notes, thoughts, memories and illustrations to make it a nice and visual :)
