Current Matter is a self-publishing platform that explores what shapes culture today and translates it into tangible printed forms. Founded in 2024 by Katharina Thewathida and Florian Mecklenburg, CM examines how culture, identity, and memory circulate across different communities and contexts. Our catalog centers on zines, artist publications, and experimental print formats that combine visual research with personal perspectives. Recent titles engage with punk and rave cultures, queer publishing networks, and object-based storytelling that reflects on love, belonging, and memory.

GiRRLZ: THE SELFIE ISSUE is a newspaper publication that explores the wide range of self-reflections in digital culture, aka the many forms of the selfie.

Souvenirs of Love is a zine featuring 25 contributors who explore different notions of love by revealing the unseen object biographies of their personal “souvenirs.” Through these intimate stories, each contributor reflects on how their chosen object embodies moments of connection, memory, and transformation.
