Doewa Matjan – Miss Read

Doewa Matjan

Doewa Matjan is an artist collective that brings together creatives connected to Indonesia and the Netherlands, many with a background in graffiti and street culture. Founded by Rotterdam-based graffiti artist Danny Rumbl and Javanese artist Sicovecas, the collective grew from a shared interest in collaboration, identity, and cultural exchange. Through their work, the founders aim to create a platform where artists from both countries can connect, share experiences, and develop projects that reflect contemporary visual culture and personal histories.

Doewa Matjan engages in a wide range of activities, including exhibitions, collaborative projects, and workshops, while also publishing riso and screen prints, artist publications, and zines. These publications serve as a means to circulate ideas, stories, and artistic practices beyond gallery spaces. By combining street art roots with multidisciplinary approaches, the collective fosters dialogue, experimentation, and meaningful connections between artists, audiences, and communities across Indonesia and the Netherlands.
