e-flux – Miss Read

e-flux

e-flux was founded by artists in 1999 as an independent platform for contemporary art, culture, and critical thought. Over the past twenty-five years, it has developed into a trusted point of reference for artists, curators, writers, and institutions worldwide.

At its core, e-flux is a set of publishing and distribution platforms that operate through editorial curation and context rather than algorithmic visibility. Its announcements services—e-flux Announcements, Agenda, Architecture, Education, and Film—deliver news about exhibitions, publications, art fairs, and events to a global audience of art professionals. The e-flux archive, comprising more than 60,000 announcements and editorial texts published since 1999, forms a unique record of contemporary artistic and curatorial practice.

e-flux also publishes original writing through e-flux Journal, Architecture, Notes, Criticism, and Education, presenting essays, reviews, and conversations on art, architecture, film, theory, education, and politics. Many texts first published by e-flux have become widely read and taught internationally.

Beyond publishing, e-flux presents a range of discursive programs, from film screenings and lectures to exhibitions and performances. These projects have been realized at documenta, Venice Biennale, and museums and cultural institutions around the world. e-flux Screening Room in Brooklyn hosts regular screenings, talks, and live events, while e-flux Film streams artist films online.

e-flux also publishes books in collaboration with Sternberg Press and University of Minnesota Press, and launched the quarterly print publication e-flux Index in 2024.
