EME – Miss Read

EME

EME Editorial is a Spanish publishing house focused on essays and contemporary fiction, with a special emphasis on Latin American voices. Our books explore the possibilities of thinking through text in dialogue with the artistic practices of photography and design.
We never forget that a book is a body, and that language, as a mythical Argentine band from the ’80s once sang, is also a “surface of pleasure.”

"Madriguera" collection focuses on literary essays. It brings together powerful voices such as Clara Obligado, Diego Tatián, Paloma Vidal, I. Acevedo, and Corina Gepner, each offering a unique path through the landscape of contemporary reflection.
El archivo del Este. Desplazamientos en los imaginarios de la literatura cubana contemporánea, by Irina Garbatzky, is the most recent book from the collection. This essay explores an idea through fictional images—traveling across the East Berlin imagined in Cuban literature, passing through Moscow and Beijing, before circling back to Havana.

“Fin de lo mismo” collection showcases contemporary fiction. Recent titles include “El demonio en la colina de los lobos” by Dimitri Rouchon Borie (translated from French), “El mar avanza hacia sí mismo” by Pilar Cimadevilla, and “La dirección del fuego” by Juan Fernández Marauda.

We publish in Spanish and also translate works from Portuguese and French.

The interior of the book features black, folded pages that mirror the folds and layers of meaning in Gepner's writing: her personal history as the granddaughter of Holocaust victims, her work as a translator from German into French, and her own experiences translating certain poems.

Una casa lejos de casa

Una casa lejos de casa is a poetic essay about living in a foreign language—even your own. To be a woman, a writer, a migrant, an exile, and from there, rethink what “home” means. A powerful re-reading of the tradition of writing between languages.
