Flipppress翻翻頁出版 – Miss Read

Flipppress翻翻頁出版

Our publishing project, initiated by artists from Taiwan and Macau, explores the living conditions of islands and peninsulas and how these geographical differences shape our perception of "movement" and "fluidity".

We examine how local cultures are standardized and how regional collective experiences are documented, translated, and reproduced through mobility and migration.

Using personal inquiries, observations, and collected materials—alongside invited contributions—we respond to local phenomena, objects, and symbols to deconstruct the "imagination of Asia." Centered on imagery, our publications integrate personal archives, community visuals, and collective imagination, reconstructing narratives through an artistic lens. By bridging text, imagery, and intimate writing, we create an auto-ethnographic dialogue that reflects contemporary shifts in Asian culture and collective memory.
Mourning You in the City

This project extends the core concept of my art book "Intermezzo," exploring how life, through the depiction of dried flowers, is re-endowed with creative energy after being "life-drawn" (sketched from life). This book features a cross-disciplinary collaboration with Taiwanese poet Daxiang Lin. We engage in a spoken word performance in a theatrical setting, sketching bouquets on stage. Concurrently, the textual creation delves into children's philosophy and life issues, starting from the organization of my mother's childhood stories. Through this dialogue between art and literature, the project aims to present the multifaceted nature and profound meaning of life.

A Calligraphy Copybook
Jia-Chae CHANG, A Calligraphy Copybook, Flipppress翻翻頁出版, 2026, © Jia-Chae CHANG

This is a series of flat works that collect and organize obscure "Human Radical" characters and their pronunciations. These characters resist being forgotten, serving as a unique memory that is no longer in daily use but needs to be preserved and continued.

I will develop a set of brushstroke copybooks for these obscure characters, writing and reviewing them again through calligraphy, raising awareness of the challenges posed by missing or unrecognized characters in digital text environments.
