Floating Opera Press
Floating Opera Press is a Berlin-based publisher of contemporary criticism as well as select artists’ books. The imprint aims to make new demands on critical inquiry into culture and politics and to publish underrepresented or historically silenced writers and artists. In this vein, Floating Opera Press launched the Critic’s Essay Series in 2021 to give voice to authors who subvert or replace normative modes of thinking through our cultural and political moment. While eclectic in content, each book offers cultural commentary from a writer freed of the constraints of form and expectation.
Floating Opera Press also publishes artists' books, and in particular books by lesser-known artists who want to experiment with content. With both the artists' books and the critical books, Floating Opera Press’s aim is to provide a culturally astute and impactful presentation of material that we hope will make a lasting impression on the reader.
