Jaklin M. Romine

I am an independent photographer and fine artist from East Los Angeles, and San Gabriel with an MFA from CalArts 17’. I create zines/art books/photography art books in relation to larger bodies of work that I have been working on for a few years. I tell the stories of my solo shows in a more intimate hand held setting. I usually print my pictures very large and on fabric and over sculptures and this is the first time people are seeing my pictures flat. All the original photography, graphic design and full layout are my own. I layer different types of materials to accent the photography and print on transparency, certificate paper, double-sided, color cardstock, Vellum, and glitter/ iridescent paper.

This is a picture of the title page and dedication of my book. There are multiple layers of different fabrics. There is transparency there is an iridescent cut out butterfly and a picture is printed on the see-through paper. You can also see multicolored paper layered in different sizes and shapes underneath the see-through paper.
