Lechen
Lechen Zheng is a London-based artist and researcher. Her practice focuses on desire and feminism, eroticism, queer intimacy, and fetishistic cultures, examining how sexual culture and its related cultural products are continuously shaped and directed by structures of power and cultural frameworks.
Working across photography, edible sculptures, ink painting, and mixed media, she frequently uses food as a metaphor for intimacy, desire, and queer narratives. She weaponises erotic and bodily symbols, pushing materials into friction, tension, and deliberate absurdity, while reflecting from the East Asian context of sexual repression. Zheng continually explores and questions the boundaries between eroticism and art, considering how sexuality and erotic expression persistently influence social life and the dynamics of intimacy in contemporary culture.
