Local Gr0up – Miss Read

Local Gr0up

Local Gr0up is a platform from Ukraine that emerged in 2021, dedicated to showcasing contemporary experimental visions and fostering connections across borders. Ranging from publications to film screenings and exhibitions, it evolved from Local Stickerbook, a sticker-based magazine that laid its foundation.

Local Gr0up’s publications function as post-internet archives, using playful and accessible formats to document emerging Ukrainian and global subcultures. Together, they reflect a generation navigating identity and technology within an accelerated hypermediated present .

Lexicon of Nature is a visual encyclopedia, bringing together the works of approximately 40 artists to explore the theme of speculative stress aka stress in nature. The magazine delves into the intersections of environment and internet aesthetics, offering personal perspectives on the pressures shaping our identities in the contemporary world.

Each work serves as a response to the challenges of today and the uncertainties of tomorrow. By interpreting speculative stress through diverse mediums and approaches, the featured artists create a dialogue that resonates across disciplines.

With this initiative, we aim to document artistic visions and generate discussions around the transformative power of creativity in addressing our challenges.

The cover of Solomiya No. 5 shows Vladyslav Plisetskyi, Ukrainian filmmaker and director. He had to reluctantly cut his long hair to follow army protocols, which is why he covers his head with a T-shirt. The photo was taken by his friend, and Solomiya editor, Ivanna Kozachenko who visited him at the military training facility in the fall of 2025. Now, Vladyslav and many others are in the army.
