Locomoctavia
Locomoctavia is a record label for children's literature, publishing CDs as well as vinyl records. Our focus is on oral tradition and children's literature. Our publications are highly curated (for every record voice artists, musicians and illustrators work together - often we also take care of the translation). "Slow" projects that focus on every text as long as it takes, sometimes months, sometimes years. Our mission is to put into the hands (and ears) of children high quality readings of literature that are not produced with the mechanism of the market system and the quantity focussed logic of platforms but artisanal manufactured one of a kind stories. In 2025 we won the Premio Andersen award, the most important award for Italian publishers in kidslit.
The voice is connected deeply to ourselves and our mission is to produce storytelling for children that meets their needs and respects their needs for stories that are not conveyed to them mechanically, but with high aesthetic standards. Some kind of a Theatre with closed eyes where they can feel at home in every story and let their imagination flow.
Last year we organized a fundraising in collab with a Palestinian children's book publisher in Haifa to support families in Gaza: we translated their Palestinian Fairytale Jbeneh from Arabic into Italian and recorded it with the voices of the child Viola Fior and the Berlin based Palestinian volcalist and singer Wafaa Saied. We plan to record it in German in 2026.
