Neumatofora – Miss Read

Neumatofora

Neumatofora is interested in the reappropriation of images and the diverse compilation of stories. After publishing several fanzines individually, the collective has transformed itself into a space for collaboration and support for other projects, building a bridge between several artists and researchers from Latin America and their own editorial practice. Neumatofora also hosts the show TRANSPORTADOR@ on LYL Radio.

We created this magazine as a fictional archive of a women-only strip club, which never existed, but is hypothetically set in the 1970s in Pigalle, Paris.

We created this magazine as a testament to that era, basing it on a real archive we have of porn magazines between Bogotá and Paris, from the 1960s to the 2000s.

Revolutionary nostalgia in the time of the dystopia we are living in. Reading and learning from the stories of our ancestors to understand the challenges of the sex workers' struggle, their community history. Rewriting history, harder, to remind ourselves of what has already been done and what can still be done. You are invited to contribute by accessing the archives you have.

Archizine #1
Archivo Comuniratio de El Alto & Neumatofora, Archizine #1, Neumatofora, 2024 © Archivo Comuniratio de El Alto & Neumatofora

A compilation of texts by members of the El Alto Community Archive collective, bringing together various key themes that shape the history of the city of El Alto (Bolivia). The edition was produced in collaboration with Neumatofora.

The texts were compiled as if they were a musical selection of cumbia-chicha or huayños, as were the reused images and fonts found in magazines, books, and on 16 de Julio Street in El Alto, La Paz, and at the Tiwanaku archaeological site.

The following texts make up this first issue:
✿ ‘Aymar thuqt ́awinakax jiwasamp chikaw aka Altupata markasar puriniwayataya’, Kullakita Nayra ✿ ‘Shield’, Samuel Hilari
✿ ‘The Extraterritorial Dance of the Chiwiñas in El Alto’, Vania Calle
✿ ‘From Your Envy My Fame Is Born (Part 1)’
Fher Masi Pérez
✿ ‘El Alto/Los Altos Through Footage (Vol. 1)’, Pedro Alroc Aliaga Mollinedo
✿ ‘Feminist Chicha Huayno 2025’, Luli Micelio
✿ ‘From One of the Twenty Provinces, to Begin with’, Alexis Argüello Sandoval
