QB

QB is a curatorial publishing project focusing on diasporic East Asian queer and female practices, examining how imagination operates as a method of decolonization. Rather than rejecting colonial fantasies outright, QB investigates how East Asian sexual minorities reclaim, inhabit, and transform imaginaries historically shaped by colonial desire.

QB proposes that decolonization may also occur through appropriation and re-performance: by embracing the fantasies produced by colonial culture—romantic love, ideal femininity, literary canon, and global pop imagery—and reworking them from within.

The first iteration of QB presents works by Simplified Chinese women writers asking: how do East Asian women imagine themselves and the world today? Through fandom writing, autofiction, speculative narration, and experimental publishing, the project explores imagination as a space where vulnerability, identification, and desire become tools for rewriting subjectivity and negotiating diasporic existence.

Pubis Magazine #2, Fangirlsdom 同人女志, published in 2025, celebrates the life experiences and creativity of Chinese fangirls. The issue explores how fangirls play crucial roles in creating erotic knowledge, validating ESEA queer joy, accommodating the pains of cultural displacement, and addressing the needs for alternative expressions of feminism and queerness. The issue features 22 contributions from Chinese diasporic women and queer people worldwide.

Becoming Everyone, Everywhere is a collection of short stories, notes, and snapshots drawn from Yasmine Anlan Huang’s travels and processes of relocation since 2019. Extending an autobiographical narrative and a recurring protagonist from her previous publications and films, the book shifts toward autofiction, reframing lived experience through a character who allows the author to rehearse lives she cannot yet inhabit. Siming, a transliteration of “Yasmine” back into Chinese, appears across four stories as an idol, an idol aspirant, a fledgling part-time girlfriend, and a defeated novelist in an unexpected chance encounter. Edging between danger and security, Siming approaches self-actualization as identity is performed, translated, and continually revised in fantasies.

Harry Lin dreamed himself fly into the dark night

As a child, Liming read Harry Potter and believed Liming was him — so that Liming moved to England to find that world. Liming found neither the England Liming had imagined nor the boy t thought she was. This novel is her rewriting of that story: Harry Lin, a Chinese queer reimagining of Harry Potter, navigating crime and self-discovery in a London that was never meant for Liming.
