Sometimes Always
We are a design studio / publisher from Brazil, based in between Sao Paulo and Marseille. For over 10 years now we've been publishing this project called 'Dolce Stil Criollo' that we founded with writer and scholar Christopher Rey Pérez back in 2012.
'Dolce Stil Criollo' is a neologism that invokes its own complexity. It’s the Sweet Creole Style. Our bookworks make up a small history of the Americas. We publish works about what it means to live and be where we are. Both our editorial line and experiments in design seek to create a reader who travels across languages.
We just launched our newest issue (Extraordinarily Apotropaic) that aims to rethink reality in its current ordinary form by discovering and creating charms and rituals for changing it into one where there is less harm. The issue features poems in multiple languages; a map of dreams; a video game-turned-manga; a section that functions as a kineograph; a collaboration with the Huni Kuin people; and more. We also curated a collective project, “Cinema of Hope,” which brings together 11 moving image artists in search of the apotropaic moment, caught on film.
We are also publishing poetry monographs that are satellites to DSC world. These monographs are always presented in their original language and in a translated version too.
