Studio violatipia

Tzu Ning Chiang (Viola Chiang) was born in Taipei, Taiwan, lives and works in Venice,Italy and Dublin,Ireland.She is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice employs a variety of media.She graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia and has undertaken the Erasmus programs in National Academy of Art of Sofia in Bulgaria and LUCA School of Arts in Brussels, Belgium. Member of Black Church Print Studio (from 2017 ongoing). Her work has been exhibited in Italy, Ireland, UK, Greece, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Norway, Austria, Sweden, Bulgaria, Poland, Belgium, Germany, Serbia, Lithuania, Netherlands and Egypt. In 2022 she started her personal Studio Violatipia in Venice, Italy which is a self-publisher also a creative, experimental studio between printmaking and photography to make books and publications to discuss “Book as an object”, “Image as a fossil between time and light” to express more narratives. Her first official solo show took place in Linenhall Arts Centre Gallery, Castlebar, Co.Mayo (2024-2025). Works collected at Office Public Work, Dublin, Ireland and France Embassy in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Book as an object is a book between documentation and catalogue of my solo show "Book as an object" in Ireland. When a book becoming an object, it won't be readable, will explian book between readable and unreadable, to engage with books not only as sources of information but as experiences that challenge how we perceive and interact with the world around us, while simultaneously encouraging dialogue about books as transformative objects that transcend their conventional uses.Printed between digital and traditional print, A5 format with hand binding.

Botanical sketchbook in Norway and Europe is my research between ecology and environment through plants' stories, natural ink from plants and tea recipes, to tell stories about what natural provide us, what we should do for our environment, printed between cyanotype and riso graph, each book as an artist note, artist book.Book size is A5 format.

Deep snow is a documentation to record the moment of snow falling down and printed with cyanotype, realized during my residency in KH Messen (An artist house in Norway) Jan. 2024. 70 pages with various dimensions.
