Swamp Land – Miss Read

Swamp Land

Swamp Land was founded in 2021 as a self-publishing collective that presents works through hand-bound books created in collaboration and dialogue with artists. With natural elements as primary materials, the group focuses on bringing the 'moist' quality of natural media into the fields of photography, literature, and design. Through ongoing discussion, tactile exploration, and experimentation with diverse materials alongside creators, we aim to continuously delve deeper into the core of each work—using materials that resonate with the temperament of the piece to evoke the physicality of the work as it lives within the book.

Initiated in 2019, Wolrd Tree is a personal photography project. Influenced by shamanic culture, I have chosen trees as my subject, reflecting upon the relationship between humanity and nature through observing and documenting trees across different regions.
The human-centered world perpetually cycles through fragmentation, violence, suffering, and warfare. The rift between humanity and nature will ultimately lead to the destruction of wholeness. Nature has never revolved around humankind; all beings are integral threads within the fabric of nature. The inner world of every individual is connected to the inner world of this planet. "Spirit" has become "flesh and blood." A single blade of grass, a petal of a flower—no matter how minute—perceives this connection.
Nature ceaselessly instructs us: we must dismantle with our own hands the fundamental structure of the "self" we have constructed, willingly enduring the pain of exposure, the pain of being stripped of our garments, the pain of being flayed of skin, nerves, heart, and mind—down to our very core—until nothing remains and we stand fully exposed before the cosmos. Until we comprehend that we are nature itself.
In this modern era of accelerating technological iteration, the bond between humanity and nature is fracturing. When the last tree falls, what will remain of us?

The Recording of Dream

This book documents the seven most fascinating dreams I experienced over the past five months.
The world of dreams always feels slightly different from reality. That is why I have chosen this particular method to express these dreamscapes.
In this work, I aim to capture the boundary between reality and imagination as it exists within the dream state. To visualize this distinction, I have selected mirror paper as the medium for printing.
The text of each chapter is divided into two parts: one portion is presented in mirrored reverse. Only when read through the reflection of the mirror paper can the complete content be revealed.
