WAITHOOD Magazine

WAITHOOD Magazine is a periodical that foregrounds emerging young contemporary African artists and fugitive epistemologies to comprehend the complexities of the human experience through a maroonage perspective. The publication explores the intersection between contemporary art, the urban landscape, and the youth experience in an Africa context, to offer multiple readings of the present condition, considering not only distorted notion of past but also the role of silences, memory and nostalgia in comprehending the Black experience.

The magazine is interested in contemplating imaginative processes of Black artists, writers, thinkers and makers, paying special attention to how this engage with the urban landscape to craft a future otherwise. Our curatorial practice is oriented by the desire of realising the required labour to give birth to a liberated futures.
