Through a layered process of dramatic recomposition, physical print manipulation, and rephotography, Young unravels an intensely emotional and associative narrative that explores what it feels like to live in an era marked by rampant militarization, technological hyper-violence, and unrelenting ecological devastation.

A tranquil descent into a dream, half waking, half lost
Restless projections churn and envelop, blinding and captivating
Luminescence and abstract plays of light
Dancing, lilting, ephemeral calligraphy
Broken spider webs hanging limp and tangled in charged air
Silver movements in pitch black and snow as a static storm
Undulating, twisted gnarled remains, likes bodies strewn here and there after some great bloody battle
Echoes, abnormalities and quiet observations as an eclipse occurs and all is stilled

You entered the world after the quadrennial slumber.
A world that is pristine, that has wiped the slate clean and is now reformed. It first needed to be lulled so that it could be healed and rebuilt. The repair was researched, planned and emplaced on new foundations. A great many would change radically, with procedures that would have to be carried out seamlessly, thus sleep was decided. The awakening occurred gradually as did the restart of the new environment. Everything ran smoothly and transition was painless...

What has rotten in your archives, yet has stayed in touch with you, what you have left to decay because you weren’t ready to get into a dialogue with it. Photographs that use light to talk about darkness, that suggest instead of showing.
