Burning Desk

For a year (2022/2023) I did a research about how I can be more eco-friendly as an illustrator. This research resulted in wide knowledge around this subject that I wanted to share with fellow illustrators/creatives. During my research I made notes about all the things I found out and tried on old scraps of boxes and papers. In this publication readers can read everything I did and try them selves since I also noted down all the materials needed, the how to and recipes. This publication I printed in a limited edition (250 copies) and is fully availible for free online! This research was financial supported by Stimuleringsfonds.

Work in progress (will be published in august 2024). I'm working on a visual book full with illustrations about my experiences with racism and unconscious bias. This because I felt a little bit frustrated, left out and misunderstood when people talk about this subject. With rightwing parties winning all around Europe/the World, I decided to make a book about it. I think a lot of people do not understand what racism does to a human, how it is present in our daily life and how racism affects our self confidence and mental health. I hope with this book to spread more awareness about this subject as well as I hope other people will find some comfort and reconition in it. This book will be full of illustration, comics and thoughts and is not meant to convince people who don't believe that racism is that big of an issue. My book will be around 120 pages (full colour) and comes with some cute extra's. After the summer I do a booktour to promote my book via different artbook events which Miss Read will be one of.

I make small zines for years now, the fun thing is that you can make them about any subject, everywhere and really fast. With these small publications I hope to inspire others to just to start making zines, cause everyone can make them.
