P+4 Publications

P+4 Publications is a small-scale publishing program dedicated to Romanian art, photography, and architecture. Our aim is to research, document, and delve into artistic narratives that evoke transversal connections, fragile histories, and imaginative stories, working in close collaboration with artists and designers. Conceived as artistic and curatorial propositions, our projects transform publications into sites of ideational and intuitive encounter, or alternative exhibition spaces. We seek to articulate a fresh, permeable perspective on questions emerging from contemporary artistic practices in Eastern Europe—particularly Romania. Meanwhile, we remain attentive to cross-disciplinary exchanges and the complex strategies required to translate artistic and historical content into the material and sensory form of the book. Founded by art historian Alina Șerban in Bucharest, P+4 Publications is the publishing program of the Institute of the Present, a non-profit research platform.
