As we are witnessing a widening gap between people of different colors, Two and a half years ago, we launched the project Rereading Lu Xun. During this time, the shifting realities around us have made us keenly aware that, today, language often feels confined within the walls of our own teeth—difficult to truly open and speak. This is not only true for adults; young people, too, experience anxiety, depression, and confusion.

The historian Yu Yingshi once said, “Turn inward and find peace within yourself.” In such a state of mind, we turned again to Lu Xun’s works. To us, he is a sage who speaks across time, offering words that respond to our age and giving us, amid the torrents of this era, a place where we can momentarily rest our hearts.

This issue of the magazine features four of Lu Xun’s writings: Forging the Sword, Kong Yiji, Medicine, and A Madman’s Diary.

SHU SHU has developed *Madman*, a board game for children and adolescents, as an extension of *Re-reading Lu Xun* . As a socially engaged board game, *Madman* draws inspiration from the traditional "goose game," transforming its path of fate into a map of real-life growth. The game board features 31 illustrated spaces that reflect the real experiences and struggles contemporary youth may face while growing up.

When you reach the end and “win” the game, will you pause to ask yourself: after walking this path shaped by predetermined standards of success, am I still a “normal” person?

This board game is a tribute to Lu Xun’s 1918 novella *Diary of a Madman*. We hope *Madman* can transform those lonely, painful, and absurd moments of growing up into stories that can be heard, understood, and reimagined—through the act of play.

SHU SHU childish series This is Tummy. This little fold-out book presents a drawing by 8-year-old Tuding of his stuffed animal, Tummy, It depicts sixteen possible lives that Tummy might have had, along with Tummy’s real appearance and the warm story shared between them.
