This was a project but we have forgotten what it was – Miss Read

This was a project but we have forgotten what it was

"This was a project but we have forgotten what it was" is a commonplace of two artists that work with books. In 2013 we create Ruja Press with the aim to publish our works and the work of our friends. After ten years of making books, we decided to change the name and rethink the way in which we understand our artistic practice in relation to publishing.

Jose Quintanar is an artist educated as an architect at the Polytechnic University of Madrid where he is currently doing his Ph.D. research. He uses books as the principal format of his work and explores the possibilities of the drawing as a game and the ways that the drawing appears as a primary method to establish processes and protocols from rudimentary rules.

Ruohong Wu is a researcher in art & architecture. She is originally educated at Architectural Association London. Her work attempts to transfer cultural conflict into new aesthetic values, not limited to one material or technique, but all are centered on the argument of what is considered as beauty and ugly, out-of-date and new, useless and valuable.
