Tamami Iinuma – Miss Read

Tamami Iinuma

Born in Tokyo, Japan, and currently lives and works in Tokyo.
From 2008, Iinuma studied abroad at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig for a year and resided in Leipzig until 2013 (received the Grant for Overseas Study, Pola Art Foundation in 2010). She resided in Cité Internationale des Arts for a year in 2014. She received her Ph.D. at Tokyo University of the Arts, Graduate School in 2018.

Under the theme of “House of Architecture”, as Iinuma’s first photo book named, she photographs architecture as accumulations of people’s memories, and cities and landscapes as habitations of architecture. Her publications are: House of Architecture (2016, POST), JAPAN IN DER DDR (2018, Self-Published), Piece of Colonne. Fragments of Waves (2022, Lubok Verlag). Current exhibitions are: About a Small White Architecture (Solo, 2023, Okaya JP), Von Ferne. Bilder zur DDR (Collective, 2019, Munich DE), JAPAN IN DER DDR (Solo, 2018, Tokyo JP), Momentary Architecture (Solo, 2018, Hakone JP), Requiem For A Failed State (Collective, 2018, Leipzig DE) and more.
In 2020, Iinuma established the publishing label “House of Architecture”, and edited and published Searching for a Language of a House - Architectural Photography of Koji Taki (2020), Hackability of the Stool by Daisuke Motogi (2022) and more.
